Top Ten Songs I Played Loud Enough for You to Hear

That's why you kept IMing me. Turn that shit down, you said. Hell no, I said. Not my fault that my psychic amp is turned up to 11. Put on your tin foil hat. And you said, hell no–it itches when you wear it. And I said, tough. And you said, okay, fine, at least quit playing that Mariah Carey album.

And I paused.

Then I said, um, whose mind are you listening to?

10. "Silent Seven" – Controller.Controller
9. "Blue" – A Perfect Circle
8. "Drove Through Ghosts to Get Here" – 65 Days of Static
7. "Naked Cousin" – PJ Harvey
6. "In Transit (for you)" – Matchbook Romance
5. "We Know Something You Don't Know" – DJ Format
4. "Hide and Seek" – Imogen Heap
3. "Ode to Divorce" – Regina Spektor
2. "Untitled (everything but suicide)" – Gnarls Barkley
1. "Human" – Carpark North

Incidentally, a new chapter of Overkill is live here.

Okay, that's it. That's my rhyme. Take it to the streets.

Fiction Frenzy Was a Success

I'm very pleased to see that so many folks banged out a short story over the weekend. Turnout was frankly better than I expected for a first time thing. I'm hoping to run another one in a few weeks. You can see all of that glorious mess here.

And Episode 51 of Something Else was my contribution.

Plus, a new chapter of Overkill has gone live.

New music I dig this time around is "Turnstile Blues" by Autolux. Thanks to Communications Major, English Minor for the headsup.

Writing. Oh, and Music.

Goose over at Veritas Lux Mea added me to his sidebar. Which is quite cool. I consistently get great music from his site, as I've mentioned before. I need to redo all of my sidebars, honestly. I'm thinking of adding a music one, and at that point I'll slap Goose and VLM in there as well as the other ones that are all in a conspiracy together to make my hard drive explode. Not to mention make me spend more money on music. Sneaky bastards, the lot of them.

On the newness front, I've got two more pages of Next Wave #4 up, as well as the latest chapter of Overkill.

I've got to get some infrastructure bits done on Needcoffee, so I'll be taking a few days to put full focus over there. No need to fear. Speaking of fear, Bloggie voting ends today. So head over and do that thing. It would be much appreciated.

What else? Oh, I've got a bit I want to write about the horror genre. And that will lead straight out of Episode 51 of Something Else, which is already about ready to pop. No rest for the wicked.

Something Else #50 Hits…

Well, it was a crazy damn week. Barely kept my head above water with everything going on, so I apologize for the lack of posts and new content. Here's what I did manage to get up:

Something Else's 50th episode is now online. I'm jazzed as hell. Thanks for everybody who's supported it, both in its original home and now here. Many thanks.

The latest chapter of Overkill is up here.

The third page of Next Wave #4 is up here.

Tee's latest segment of his DBM "Ginger" story is online here.

And here's the new music that helped fuel this stuff:

New Audio, New Overkill, and a Soul-Sucking Music Source

I put up audio versions of the first two episode of Something Else a day ago, and got buried under something…so didn't post the headsup here. So…headsup.

Also, the latest chapter of Overkill is up.

Lastly, whatever you do, stay the hell away from The Hype Machine. It's a gigantic audio blog aggregator that churns out a couple hundred MP3s a day that I feel compelled to download and sample. It will consume your world. And your ears. Best so far is Chixdiggit's "I Remember You." Found that via Veritas Lux Mea. That and a picture of midriff licking. Just don't go to the site while nuns are watching you netsurf and you'll be fine.

Anyway, stay away from that aggregator, no matter what you do. It's a timesuck of unbelievable proportions. You've been warned.

Okay, Fine, So…Next Book

So it occurs to me that my original plan isn't really valid in light of my New Year's resolution.

Here was the original plan:

1. Get Sunday Before You published. Done.

2. Get it sold out. Working on it.

3. Reprint it and the out of print Love Letters in a single bound book along with a third "book's worth" of poems and lyrics entitled What I Did On My Summer Vacation. This would be the "outtakes" of the previous two books and all the remaining poetry I had that was worth a damn that was theretofore unpublished. Vacation would be book-only, to try and inspire folks to buy the thing.

Now that everything's going up online…there's no reason not to proceed and get it published. So therefore, as of now, my third bound book has the working title "Broken as Designed," a line from one of the songs and an album title I unfortunately never got to use. Once I get it organized, you'll get it up here and it'll be in the pipeline to get published.

In other news, the latest Something Else is now available here which kicks off the third season.

And the latest chapter of Overkill is up here as well.

Somebody asked what was going on over at the Internet Archive, and yes, I am putting things are they are finished over there as well as the audio page. If you like the stuff you've downloaded from here that's listed there, slap it a review up, would you? Every little bit helps.

P.S. The Lady Porphyre has the best line I've read in a week's time: "I'm in the wrong place, but you're not." It's pretty much a summary of the poetry I've written to date, in eight words. She's just that way.

Widge and his teeth...kinda

This is me.

No, really.

I am a writer, poet, spoken word performer, actor, singer, improviser, content creation and idea machine, freelance iconoclast, and the internet's janitor that dispenses pop culture wisdom to the protagonist of your choice. I have seen too many movies, read too many comic books, and when the zombies finally come, I'm the one you want to call. I sure as hell won't answer the phone, but it's the thought that counts. I advise people on the net, websites and technology, because I know these things instead of having a life or sleeping.

If you like something I've done, donate to the Widge Wants to Kill His Day Job Fund. Or if you'd like to hire me for a job, my rates are terribly reasonable. We thank you.
