A trillion calculations per second = nearly equaling a human's brain? Bah. You know, I'm getting the feel from this article that most scientists haven't actually seen Blade Runner. Filed under: Writing Fodder

Simply because it's too cool an idea not to screw around with. In fact, I think I know who, where and when to have use it, but I can't say more without giving something away. Filed under: Writing Fodder

Combine a dehumidifier and a water purifier and you've got a solution to where drinking water comes from in the majority of DBM's world. Now I'm armed in case somebody asks me. Lord knows I've gotten weirder questions. Filed under: Dark Blue Monstropolis and Writing Fodder

Engadget has just posted a bit about the new wireless networking standard, 802.11s, the nature of which is exactly how the networking in the Atlantic Union (and elsewhere) works in DBM. There's something just terribly unnerving and cool about seeing this bit of a SF story you're working on suddenly announced for 2008. Filed under: Dark Blue Monstropolis and Writing Fodder

What it's going to take me several dozen novels, short stories and screenplays to work through, Key 23's post wraps up and puts a bow on it. The concept of "personal armageddon" is something I've dealt with, although I also like the idea of the "small apocalypse" turning out to have larger ripples in reality, which is best reflected in Alan Moore's From Hell IMO. Appropriated via The Warren's site. Filed under: Writing Fodder
