Here's the latest from the EFF. Apparently making a backup of a CD, just for your own use, is a no-no. Oh, and ripping your CD for your own personal use to an iPod is also infringement. I will be so glad when this industry and paradigm dies. Keep on suing the elderly and telling your customers they're criminals, guys. Good job. Keep it up. Found via Slashdot. Filed under: General BS

I'm very pleased to see that so many folks banged out a short story over the weekend. Turnout was frankly better than I expected for a first time thing. I'm hoping to run another one in a few weeks. You can see all of that glorious mess here. And Episode 51 of Something Else was my contribution. Plus, a new chapter of Overkill has gone live. New music I dig this time around is "Turnstile Blues" by Autolux. Thanks to Communications Major, English Minor for the headsup. Filed under: General BS and Projects

So there I was flipping through my copy of Kevin Smith's Wizard when I came across some news: Grant Morrison is apparently taking over The Authority with Gene Ha. If it's the Morrison that wrote Marvel Boy and the first half of what devolved into the X-Arc from WTFville, then we're in business. But considering how that arc ended up, we're probably all doomed. Garth Ennis is doing a Midnighter title with Chris Sprouse, so that's excellent news. Ennis has a fine eye for balancing the ha-ha with the kicksplode. I still say the dream-team for Authority is Andy Diggle and Jock. But c'est la guerre. Filed under: General BS

Write something to spec this weekend and join the virtual 48-hour anthology. This will either be brilliant or it will explode in our faces or it will simply float in the liminal void between. Regardless, join us in our madness. We've got so much time on our hands after all… Filed under: General BS
