The Sunday Before You Goes to Print

Yes, there's the cover. This week copies will be created for the book. Which means I should have some at DragonCon, let's hope. Regardless, pre-publication orders are being taken as of now. This will be a limited run of 75 copies and then it goes away. If you want a copy, e-mail me and let me know. Cost for the book is only $5 and you can hit me up on Paypal for it (widgett@onetusk.com). If you want to send a check, contact me for a snail-mail address, but know the check needs to be made out to John Robinson, since it's his bank account. Shipping is $2 through the regular post and that will get it anywhere.

Poems in the book are as follows:

"Mithradates–he dead."
Your Body is an Alien Thing
Laughed to See Such Fun
untitled
A Prayer
Mighty Yggdrasil's Stump
Standing at the Cave Mouth
The Old Souls

Devotion (I)

Devotion (II)
563: The Number of Powerlessness

Something Odd

There's a comic strip generator here, that I found via Screenhead. And it made me start something else. Sorry.

They're a little too large to post in here, but here's the first three.

Yet Another Odd Thing

From "Dies Irae," from Sunday, which I swear to God is almost done…they've figured out a way to put you inside one of my wacky metaphors. Sure it's wood and I don't think you can drink out of it (give it time), but it kinda freaks me out.

You can't unring a bell, and the two strangers who wish
they were talking suddenly become a chalice for blood
and you can't unsee it. And that is an anagram for
Sex in one, half dozen in the other, and you say it doesn't matter.
So it doesn't matter. And the guards couldn't stop them anyway.

Found at Book of Joe by way of OhGizmo!

Magnificent Desolation Now Online

I've created a PDF of the book and now it's available for download free. It's also set loose upon the four winds under a Non-Commercial, Derivative Works, Creative Commons license.

What that means in English is, pass it around to whoever you like and remix it or play with the characters and worlds to your heart's content. Just a) don't make any money off of it, 2) keep the CC license attached to it and III) if you do play around with something, you have to release it under a similar license.

Enjoy.

Top 10 Blogs I Read

Well, I saw this on Buzz Machine, and why not. I'll go ahead and stick a 10blogs tag on here, though Technorati doesn't link up my sites properly. Or capture the URLs accurately. Or work half the time I do searches. Or respond to requests for help. That's why I'm not even going to Technorati tag my sites; I figure Technorati will be replaced soon enough anyway. No offense, I'm sure they're decent people. They're just in over their heads.

But then again…aren't we all?

So. In order of how often I find myself checking them and finding things of interest:

Boing Boing
Chrenkoff
Buzz Machine
Defamer
Dave Barry's Blog
The Long Tail
Warren Ellis
Screenhead
Metafilter
Slashdot

Top Ten Things I Dangle in Front of My Mind to Distract It So I Can Get Shit Done

1. "Muscle Museum (soulwax remix)" – Muse
2. "Somedays" – Regina Spektor
3. "Teenage Angst" – Placebo
4. "Overkill" – Colin Hay
5. "Anchor End" – A Wilhelm Scream
6. "Will You (tweaker remix)" – P.O.D.
7. "Cells" – The Servant
8. "Promoter (of earthbound causes)" – Clutch
9. "Chop Suey" – System of a Down
10. "The Ghost That Feeds (nine inch nails vs. ray parker, jr.) – Mixed by Nathan Chase

The Top 3 are just engraved into the iPod. I can't seem to do shit about it. Who knew Colin Hay had a solo career? Not I. And "Chop Suey" is probably the best song in years to shout-along to. I know it's not new. I just needed some therapeutic music this past month.

Widge in his Overlook Hotel shirt

This is me.

No, really.

I am a writer, poet, spoken word performer, actor, singer, improviser, content creation and idea machine, freelance iconoclast, and the internet's janitor that dispenses pop culture wisdom to the protagonist of your choice. I have seen too many movies, read too many comic books, and when the zombies finally come, I'm the one you want to call. I sure as hell won't answer the phone, but it's the thought that counts. I advise people on the net, websites and technology, because I know these things instead of having a life or sleeping.

If you like something I've done, donate to the Widge Wants to Kill His Day Job Fund. Or if you'd like to hire me for a job, my rates are terribly reasonable. We thank you.
